Consumer Wallet
& Payments App
TL;DR
Designed REU Personal end-to-end — a zero-to-one consumer fintech app for European markets with multi-currency accounts, physical and virtual cards, and cross-border transfers — from discovery through high-fidelity delivery.
Role: UX Designer II, sole designer with end-to-end ownership from discovery through high-fidelity delivery. Worked across a VP of Product Development, Director of Design, two PMs, and a UX Writer — used research methods to resolve team disagreements on feature scope and navigation structure rather than letting them stall.
Problem: Legacy European banks handled cross-border payments slowly, buried card controls, and provided no real-time visibility into pending transactions. Internally, stakeholders disagreed on IA and navigation model — no shared source of truth to align decisions.
Solution: Validated IA in wireframes before committing to hi-fi. Structured navigation around frequency data: balance checking and transfers — the two most-used features — got primary placement and the shortest paths. Used research data to resolve stakeholder disagreements objectively rather than through opinion.
Impact: ↑35pp feature navigation accuracy after IA restructuring (validated via testing). Transfer flow: 6 → 2 steps. Auth entry: 2 → 1 screen. 6 Laws of UX applied across key design decisions. Product never shipped — RYVYL ceased operations — but all core decisions were research-validated before the company wound down.
